Dumpster pricing is determined by three factors: size, contents, and location.
The length of time a dumpster is rented for will determine the cost. For example, if a dumpster is rented for two weeks, it will likely cost less than if it’s rented for one month. Dumpsters that are kept on-site longer tend to be more expensive because they incur demurrage days from the rental company.
What’s in your dumpster will also play a role in its price. Things like wood, metal, and construction debris (the standard contents of a construction dumpster) can add up and become heavy. Each size dumpster will have a certain amount of tonnage allowed inside. If you go over the tonnage you will see an overage charge on your rental. Concrete and dirt usually won’t be allowed in our dumpsters at all due to the weight and our trucks load capacity.
Trying to lower your cost can be as simple as deciding what you want removed ahead of time when renting your dumpster so you’re not paying for things you don’t need removed. The right approach can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars over the course of a single project, or over many projects.
10-yard dumpster prices
Dumpster rental prices usually depend on the size of the dumpster that you rent. The smallest size is often called a 10-yard dumpster, and you can find out its price by checking our pricing chart. Dumpsters are typically rented for residential house cleanup or construction debris removal.
The cost for a 10-yard dumpster will be between $475 and $550. However, if you’re interested in more space to dispose of garbage, consider renting another larger size.
If you’re performing a big renovation project, it’s likely that you’ll need to rent a larger size other than a 10-yard dumpster. This is because many commercial projects produce much more waste than average homes do.
15-yard dumpster prices
For small to medium-scale home cleanouts, landscaping, and small construction projects, it’s hard to beat the value of a 15 yard dumpster. At $550-$650, this dumpster size is still relatively affordable.
To give you an idea of how large these containers are: they’re 4 feet tall 8 feet wide and 14 feet long. They usually contain about 15 cubic yards of waste and debris. A 15 yard dumpster will typically be delivered at the start of your project or any time after that. You also have the choice of getting it swapped out when its full for an additional fee.
15 yard dumpsters make ideal receptacles for cleaning out a basement before some renovation work begins because they can be delivered almost immediately in most cases. If you think you have more items than a 15 yard dumpster will hold while working on your basement, you may want to go with a 20 or 30 yard model instead (or rent multiple 15s), but it’s not always necessary if you plan carefully based on how much space is available in the room.
Because this container can take care of most residential needs that involve clearing out space, none of its associated fees are going to kill you financially either—unless you let them go completely out of control by consistently waiting to finish your project until just prior to pickup and needing extra rental days. Calculate everything up front so that everyone involved gets their fair share and has plenty of time to deal with any hiccups that might come up during pickup or cleanup.
20-yard dumpster prices
It’s probably safe to assume that when you’re looking at pricing for a dumpster, you’re trying to get your hands on the cheapest possible dumpster. That’s a good goal! However, it’s important to keep in mind that there are two kinds of dumpsters: roll-off and front load. Roll-offs are typically used for construction sites and demolition projects, so they’re usually required to be rented for 24 hours per day (7 days per week). Front load dumpsters are usually used by companies that want a dumpsters for long term uses and weekly pick ups.
20 yard dumpsters are perfect for residential house clean out projects. They are large enough for basement cleanouts and remodeling projects. Our 20 yard containers come with 3 tons of debris and a 2 week rental period. If you need the dumpster longer than 2 weeks, its $10 per day after the 14th day.
